Last month a client shared a recent experience of her anxiety and palpitations - which at times can “rule” her life. One holiday weekend she had an unexpected trip to the movies with family.
What no one knew was the last time my client went to the movies she had severe palpitations which triggered some major anxiety.
This time though, she brought with her the work we had done and the tools she had learned using Somatic Experiencing® - tuning into the body, being present in the body, tracking and acknowledging what was coming up.
This helped in her ability to not only be present with what was happening within herself, but she was able to be more present with her family and the movie.
It may not happen overnight, but the more you learn how to be with your body, sensations, emotions, etc. you’re able to make shifts in your life you probably never thought possible.
